Hike for Hospice
Thanks!
On Sunday, May 3rd, the weather was perfect for the 2009 Hike for Hospice. The Hike is a nation-wide event hosted by hospices and palliative care organizations to help build awareness and raise funds. Held in May each year, people of all ages come together to walk, run or stroll in support of the Hospice's Bereavement Services. A special tribute honouring deceased loved ones is the cornerstone of this uplifting event.
So far, we raised nearly $20,000 in support of the Dorothy Ley Hospice Bereavement Program. We expect the Bereavement Program will serve 440 people or more each year. The projected cost of the Program is $116,000 with government funding covering $34,000. This leaves us to raise $81,500 from the community. Program costs per individual is approximately $264. The Hike for Hospice helps raise the money needed to fully fund this Program.
