The Dorothy Ley Hospice has an annual budget of $2.7 million for 2012-13 to cover the costs of both the Community and Residential Programs. Last year, these programs served more than 2,650 individuals. Two-thirds of our funding comes from the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) and the Mississauga Halton Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). The remaining one-third, or close to $900,000 comes from funds raised in the community.
A dedicated group of volunteers supported by Hospice staff contribute hundreds of hours helping to achieve this goal. From leadership roles such as chairing an event or campaign to asking for a silent auction item, making thank you calls, or asking people to donate, these volunteers help make hospice care possible in our community.
