Help us celebrate International Women's Day by joining us for breakfast with keynote speaker Kim Plewes of Free the Children and honoured guest Donna Cansfield the MPP for Etobicoke Centre on Tuesday, March 4. International Women's Day is celebrated around the world through inspiring stories of women who made a difference through their passion and determination.
Kim Plewes is an inspiring speaker and cares passionately about child labour and the plight of children around the world. Kim began her advocacy work at the age of 12, collecting 6,000 signatures for her first petition and presenting it to the Canadian Parliament. Shortly after, Kim began working with Free the Children and was instrumental in implementing projects and programs. Kim helped pilot and implement "O Ambassadors," a joint project with Oprah's Angel Network, initiated and facilitated the "Life in Action" program and helped to launch Free the Children's first US office in California.

Doves of Hope and Remembrance
The "Doves" is a special two-month campaign that is the Hospice's single largest fundraising event. It engages more than 180 volunteers each year to help raise funds for the Hospice's Day Program. Decorative holiday trees are located in community locations such as Cloverdale Mall, and local schools and businesses. People can place their memory or message of hope on a special holiday dove and then place it on a tree. A holiday celebration for volunteers and a direct mail campaign are also part of the regular line-up of activities.
Community Sponsored Events
The Hospice has been blessed with the generous support of creative individuals and companies who take it upon themselves to help raise funds and awareness of the Hospice. These third-party events are a key part of helping keep Hospice services available.
