About Hospice Care

Hospices are volunteer-driven, staff managed, community-based organizations. They offer compassionate care to people living with the challenges of a life-limiting illness or loss and help them live their lives to the fullest. The goal is to provide comfort and help them manage so they can live with dignity, meaning and hope. Our programs and services meet a variety of support needs for individuals, families and care providers. Any palliative individual, regardless of age or medical condition, can access hospice support. Members of their families or others who have suffered a loss can also access complementary supports, where available. Hospice care relies on the dedication and spirit of many volunteers who support every aspect of our activities. Some volunteers provide support for palliative individuals and their families while others help with administrative support, fundraising and other events. Volunteers are provided with thorough training for their roles, are offered professional development opportunities and, where appropriate, participate in the Hospice's Integrative Wellness activities.
The Hospice Golf Classic will provide the necessary funding to help train more than 400 hospice volunteers.
