may soiree

Thank You!

The 2009 May Soiree was a great success thanks to the participation and support of so many people from our community.  A special thanks goes to our team of volunteers for all the hard work setting up the venue, handling the rush of registration, answering questions, making the Silent Auction a success and for helping to clean up afterwards.  Thanks too, to all our sponsors and partners.  Without your help, we couldn't have done it.

Tell us what you think.  Did you have a good time?  Did you get your characature done?  Did you try the huge baked brie?  Please fill out our Guest Survey and tell us how we did.  Just follow the link below.

The Dorothy Ley Hospice
is a volunteer-driven, staff managed organization offering compassionate care to people living with the challenges of a
life-limiting illness or loss and helps them live their lives to the fullest. Our goal is to provide comfort and help them manage so they can live with dignity, meaning and hope.  All of our services are offered at no charge thanks to the generosity of our donors, government funding and the support of our community partners.

Our programs and services meet a variety of support needs for individuals, families and care providers.  Any palliative individual, regardless of age or medical condition, can access hospice support.  Members of their families or others who have suffered a loss can also access complementary supports, where available.

For specific information about our services, please feel free to contact us.  We will be happy to provide an assessment of your needs.

Why Your Support is Vital
Overall funding for the Hospice comes from two sources: 53 per cent from the community and 47 per cent from government.   This is why every dollar we receive from individuals, foundations, corporations, organizations, religious organizations and special events is appreciated and valued.

About Residential Care
We project that the Hospice will serve 150 palliative individuals in our new residential care suites each year.  The cost for delivering this programming is expected to be $1.2 million of which less than half provided by government funding, leaving approximately $620,000 to raise from the community.  The cost per individual is about $8600.  This event helps raise the funds necessary to fully fund this program.
