Wendy Julia Hiscox Day Program

The Wendy Julia Hiscox Day Program is offered to individuals living with life-limiting illness and is available to residents of the DLH Residential Program.

Participants share experiences, support one another and engage in a variety of activities that promote their well-being. The Day Program also serves as a respite for caregivers and loved-ones. It is offered each Wednesday at the Hospice from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The program offers activities such as: circle check in time, games, expressive arts therapy, music therapy, general arts and crafts and complementary therapy such as Therapeutic Touch, Tai Chi or seated exercise and Guided Visualization.

A light breakfast and lunch are served.  Participants determine when they can and can't attend on a weekly basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Anyone may refer to the Day Program.  The Day Program Coordinator assesses the individual's eligibility based on:

  • living with a life-limiting illness
  • has given consent for the referral
  • can manage their own personal care and administer their own medication
  • agrees to ongoing assessment to determine eligibility to the program.

The Day Program has a maximum capacity of 15 participants.  Once capacity is reached, individuals who are interested in attending the Program will be placed on a first-come-first-serve waitlist.  While on the waitlist and not receing other Hospice services, the Day Program Coordinator will contact the individual at least once a month.
