Why volunteer
If you are looking for meaning in your life, volunteering with The Dorothy Ley Hospice might be exactly what you need. You can help us help others in the community who are living with the challenges of a life-limiting illness or loss. Only with your help can we meet their physical, emotional, spiritual and support needs helping them to live life to the fullest.
Whatever your skills or interests, there's a place for you as a Dorothy Ley Hospice volunteer. Many of our volunteers work directly with the clients as in-home care volunteers, in-hospital visiting volunteers or by providing bereavement support. Do you have a vehicle and a few hours per month to spare? Driver-escorts help individuals get to medical appointments, run errands, and generally remain independent for as long as possible. In addition, we have volunteers who help in the office with mailing, office reception, administration and fundraising.
Volunteering with The Dorothy Ley Hospice can also be a great way to gain and refine new skills. We need people to help us with public relations as media liaisons and public speakers, to host our information booths, help with event planning and fundraising.
With both short and long-term opportunities, we can find a place that matches your interests and your availability. Whatever your preference, we will do our best to help you find a volunteer opportunity that suits your needs.
Our coordinator of volunteer services will be pleased to discuss volunteering with you and help you find the opportunity that suits your needs and availability. Call us at (416) 626-0116 or by sending an e-mail.
